Experience Onam the way it is meant to be celebrated with a traditional Sadya of 26 dishes, blending heritage, taste, and community on a single leaf.

Onam at Vibrant Living
Last year at Vibrant Living, we decided to celebrate Onam the way it has been cherished in Kerala for centuries: with a grand Onam Sadya. What started as a beautiful idea turned into one of our most memorable events. Guests left with hearts full, bellies nourished, and smiles that lingered for days. The experience was so fulfilling that we knew it had to become a yearly tradition.
This year, we are back with a Sadya that is elaborate, authentic, and wholesome. Crafted with organic Kerala ingredients, prepared with love, and served the traditional way on banana leaves, our Sadya is everything Onam stands for — abundance, togetherness, and gratitude.
Why Our Sadya is Different
At Vibrant Living, we make Sadya in our own special way, yet deeply traditional, mindful and satvic. Unlike many modern versions, our food is prepared:
● Without garlic and onions
● Without tamarind
● With pure plant-based ingredients & cold pressed oils
We rely on kokum for puli (sourness) fresh coconut, sesame oil, hing, curry leaves, and freshly ground spices to create depth and balance. The result is food that is lighter, more digestible, and deeply nourishing, without compromising on authenticity.
Even the most traditional Keralites who joined us last year said it felt like eating at home - the flavors, the presentation, and the warmth of the experience touched their hearts. For us, that was the highest compliment.
The Feast on a Banana Leaf
Onam Sadya is not just about eating, it is about experiencing food as a celebration. The banana leaf itself is symbolic of prosperity and sustainability. Each dish is served in a particular order, balancing sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and spicy flavors.
At Vibrant Living this year, we present 26 traditional dishes that are a true feast that captures the essence of Kerala’s culinary heritage. Here is what awaits you:
1. Banana Chips (Upperi) – Oven-roasted raw nendran chips
2. Sharkara Varatti – Jaggery-coated coconut chips
3. Inji Puli – Tangy ginger & raw mango chutney (kokum instead of tamarind)
4. Mango Pickle – Fresh mustard-based pickle
5. Naranga Curry – Spicy kachai lemon pickle

17. Sambar – Okra, drumsticks, elephant yam, pumpkin, cooked with dry coconut masala
18. Rasam – Light kokum and pigeon pea lentil broth
19. Pulissery – Cooling ash gourd perugupacchadi

25. Ragi Idiyappam with Sweet Nuts & Date Cream – A Vibrant Living twist on a Kerala classic
26. Upperi (Sweet Nendran Banana Bake) – Thick ripe banana slices baked with cardamom
Each dish carries its own story, but together, they create harmony — just as Onam itself celebrates unity in diversity.
More Than Just Food
Onam Sadya at Vibrant Living is as much about the ambience as it is about the feast. We decorate our space with beautiful kolams, fresh flowers, and vibrant colors, echoing the festive spirit of Kerala. Guests are seated with banana leaves spread before them, and as dish after dish is served, the room fills with joy, conversation, and laughter.
These pictures from last year say it all: rows of happy faces, banana leaves piled with food, and a community bound together by tradition and celebration. We are so grateful to recreate that magic again this year.
Why We Celebrate
For us, celebrating Onam is about more than Kerala. It is about honoring the diverse food traditions of India. Festivals give us a chance to pause, cook with care, eat together, and share joy. They remind us of the richness of our culture and the importance of food in bringing people closer.
Onam inspired us at Vibrant Living to also look at other food-centric festivals from across India, and celebrate them in our sattvic, plant-based way. Food is culture, and food is memory. With every festival, we get to relive stories, keep traditions alive, and pass them on to the next generation.
